Summary Description  

The Mutuels/Sportsbook Cashier is responsible for accurately and efficiently entering betting information into the system, printing tickets and processing payment transactions while providing a superior guest experience in a friendly environment.  Pay starts at $17.00/hour, plus tips.

Must Be Available Nights, Weekends And Holidays. 
Essential Job Functions/Duties  
  • Practices, supports, and maintains the Mission, Vision and Values of WarHorse Gaming Lincoln, LLC.  
  • Writes, verifies, and issues payments for sports wagers and horse racing wagers in accordance with applicable department policies and procedures as well as state and federal gaming statutes and regulations.  
  • Follows proper procedures pertaining to sale and payout of tickets. 
  • Educate guests by explaining wagering rules and procedures. This includes explaining betting line and odds.  
  • Maintains bank throughout shift and ensures accuracy with all card and cash transactions. Balances bank at end of designated shift. 
  • Maintains required inventory of supplies and ensures work area is maintained in a neat and organized manner. 
  • Effectively addresses guest questions, concerns or complaints and escalates to management as required.  
  • Knowledge of sports, sporting and horseracing events. 
  • Maintains information on current offerings and events throughout the property. 
  • Works with safety as a priority and follows department and company safety standards. 
  • Keeps informed of all new developments relative to available resources for the department and makes recommendations designed to maximize department and company success. 
  • Attends periodic meetings and training sessions. 
  • Maintains knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.  
  • Always presents oneself with a neat and clean appearance. 
  • Sell and cash of mutuel and sports betting tickets, with accuracy. 
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication. 
  • Balance cash drawers  
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
Job Specifications  
  • Must be 21 years or older. 
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED. 
  • Experience as a Sportsbook and or Mutuels Writer/ Teller preferred. 
  • One (1) year experience in guest service and cash/ credit card processing preferred. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft office Suite or related software. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal and guest service skills.

Travel Requirements  

Travel is not required for this position.   

Work Hours  

Due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, Team members must be able to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.

Is this position responsible for selling, serving, or distributing alcoholic beverages or do they have comp authority? No

WarHorse Gaming Lincoln

WarHorse Gaming is a division of Ho-Chunk, Inc., the award-winning economic development corporation of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. WarHorse Gaming operates the WarHorse Casino in Lincoln (now open) as well as the WarHorse Casino, in Omaha. Both are in partnership with the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association (HBPA). WarHorse Gaming will also operate WarHorse Casino in South Sioux City (opening TBD).

Phase one in Lincoln opened September 24th, 2022, featuring over 9,000 square feet including 425 slot machines along with simulcast and live horse racing. 

WarHorse Gaming Lincoln’s next phase of construction will begin shortly after the Omaha facility’s construction starts. The expansion will double the size of the current facility and add an additional 500 parking stalls at the casino and racetrack. The expanded facility will feature 870 slot machines, six to ten table games, and an expanded dining area for customers. The Lincoln facility’s second phase is planned to take about one year to complete. Subsequent construction phases will see the buildout of the full gaming floor, parking garage, event center, and 220 room hotel.
