Position Overview:

To provide excellent guest service and a “wow” experience by anticipating guest needs. Maintain bar par levels and adhere to all standards of cleanliness. Prepare all requested beverage for the entire bar, restaurant and lounge by adhering to established recipes and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Hay-Adams Handbook, the Department Standard Operating Manual and our policies and procedures are part of this Job Description.

Restock bars by using established par levels, requisitions and by following establishment practices.

Compile beverage and cocktail fruit requisitions according to establishment practices and retrieve approved requisitions.

Set up bar to include any beverage, polished glass, silver, china and garnishes. Ensure proper countertop and table set up to include lights and ashtrays.

Change beer kegs, CO2 cylinders and post mix as needed.

Make knowledgeable, informed and articulate recommendations and suggestions regarding all menu items, cocktails, beverage items and the wine list.

Accurately and quickly take guests orders, according to the prescribed procedure.

Prepare and serve beverage and cocktails by adhering to establish recipes and establishment practices, making sure all condiments and garnishes are correct.

Observe diners and bar guests to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.

Clear and reset counters and tables as necessary and perform other services as determined by the establishment.

Issue beverage to service personnel (no drinks without ticket) or directly to patrons by strictly adhering to hotel policy and all local and state laws with regard to preparation, service, sanitation and accounting.

Is familiar with the Micros Front of The House system, posting and amending postings.

Total bills, close checks, accept payment. Close out shift and balance reports. Ensure all cash procedures and policies are strictly adhered to.

This position required excellent guest service skills and an understanding that customer care has the highest priority.

Perform any other reasonable duties as required and directed.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

License/Certification: Must be able to obtain any/all locally required licenses/certifications that relate to the job being performed such as TIPS or ServeSafe food safety certifications.

Basic Expectations: This position is one of very high guest contact and position profile, as such, all established standards of excellence must be maintained at all times and every effort must be made to meet and/or exceed all guest expectations or requests.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Language Skills: Must have good working knowledge of the English language - ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guest and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
