The Opportunity 

The Boston Bruins are hiring a Senior Accountant to join our team at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. As a Senior Accountant, you will assist the Director of Finance with oversight of all financial and reporting functions for Boston Professional Hockey Association, Inc., Deeridge Farms Hockey Association, and the Boston Bruins Charitable Foundation, Inc. Pay

Minimum – Anticipated Maximum Base Salary: $65300 - $88200 / year

In addition to base salary, we offer an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Responsibilities 

  • Maintain financial records and controls to assure prompt and accurate reporting of earnings and liquidity.
  • Prepare financial reporting and analysis for monthly financial reports, journal entries, monthly accruals, and monthly transactions for Bruins management to assess the company's performance and facilitate its corporate direction.
  • Monitor processes and operational controls to record financial affairs and to safeguard company assets.
  • Perform account reconciliations for accounts related to inter-company and affiliate accounts.
  • Reconcile Archtics (Ticketmaster) ticketing database to the general ledger.
  • Prepare/compile the required monthly reporting package for Department heads and senior management.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual lender compliance packages for distribution to the lending group.
  • Assist in coordinating the audit process and preparation of the schedules necessary to support the financials and for submission to the outside audit firm and NHL Players Association as part of the annual corporate certification process.
  • Perform monthly review of balance sheet activity through the preparation and monitoring of various reconciliations and account analysis.
  • Manage all aspects of cash/bank accounts on a monthly/daily basis.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with monthly close to ensure the integrity of the process and provide accurate and timely data.
  • Assist in the preparation of NHL reporting packages (URO, HRR, etc) as required by the NHL.
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of the annual operating plan and administrative dept budgets and prepare and update monthly forecast package to present to management.
  • Prepare Foundation event profit & loss statements
  • Assist outside tax auditors in the preparation of the annual 990 and PC for the Foundation
  • Track grant and 50/50 payments.
  • File Massachusetts Lottery Tax Returns for Foundation.
  • Prepare the timely and accurate recording of various general ledger journal entries. Utilize PeopleSoft and MS Excel capabilities to streamline efforts. - Explore new uses for automated software to increase efficiency and provide meaningful financial information to Operational Management. Identify enhancements to existing methodologies.
  • Ability to maximize efficiency and explore methods of improvement to current processes
  • Assist DNC-Boston Finance team in completion of tasks as directed by Vice President - Finance.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, ability to successfully collaborate with all levels of the organization, and a high level of integrity
  • Strong Microsoft office skills; Oracle experience is a plus
