The Opportunity 

The Boston Bruins Director of Video Production is responsible for overseeing and managing all programming for the organization, which includes, but is not limited to, “Behind The B,” “Bruins Academy” and all video content that is distributed on the team’s social media platforms. This role involves identifying new programming opportunities, creating and producing content, overseeing production deadlines and managing a team of animator/editor, photographers and other specialists. The Director of Video Production will collaborate daily on short-term and long-term strategy with the Director of Hockey Communications and Senior Manager of Digital Content.

Pay

Minimum – Anticipated Maximum Base Salary: $119500 - $161300 / year

In addition to base salary, we offer an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Responsibilities 

Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage the internal video production team, including producers, editors, videographers, and freelancers.
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for video content that aligns with the Boston Bruins’ brand and goals.
  • Foster a collaborative and creative work environment, encouraging innovation and excellence in all video projects.
  • Create and manage budget for sports programming.
  • Work internally as the Executive Producer of “Behind The B” and “Bruins Academy” shows, which includes (but is not limited to): serving as the liaison with third-party production teams, editing and writing of each episode, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, coordinating and conducting voiceover recordings and ensuring the department stays on deadline.

Content Creation:

  • Oversee the production of all video content, including game highlights, behind-the-scenes features, player interviews, promotional videos, and social media content.
  • Ensure all content is produced to the highest standard, maintaining consistency in quality, style, and branding.
  • Work closely with the marketing and communications teams to develop video content that supports promotional campaigns, fan engagement initiatives, and other marketing efforts.

Programming Management:

  • Manage all programming for the organization, including "Behind the B," "Bruins Academy," and all video content distributed on the team's social media platforms.
  • Ensure cohesive and engaging programming that enhances the team's brand and fan engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop new programming concepts and formats.

Project Management:

  • Manage the video production schedule, ensuring timely delivery of all projects.
  • Oversee budgeting and resource allocation for video production, ensuring projects are completed within budget.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors as needed.

Technical Oversight:

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in video production technology and techniques.
  • Ensure the video production team has access to the necessary tools and equipment.
  • Maintain high technical standards for all video content, including sound, lighting, editing, and special effects.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with other departments, including digital media, social media, public relations, and game operations, to ensure cohesive and effective content strategies.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Partnerships and Ticket Sales on business and brand integration and growth opportunities. Serve as the primary point of contact for all video production-related matters within the organization.
  • Represent the video production team in meetings and strategic planning sessions.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in video production, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in sports video production, preferably within the NHL or other major sports leagues.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of video production skills and successful projects.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel when needed.
