Claremont Club & Spa, A Fairmont Hotel is a California landmark and one of America’s iconic luxury hotels. Ideally nestled in the Oakland Hills and just 12 miles from San Francisco, this newly restored urban resort is uniquely positioned to offer the best of the Bay Area.
Originally built as a private residence during the California Gold Rush, the property was later won in a game of checkers by Frank Havens and Borax Smith who planned to erect a resort on the grounds. Though construction was delayed by both the Earthquake of 1906 and Panic of 1907, Claremont Club & Spa opened its doors in 1915.
Claremont celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2015 following an extensive renovation. The hotel features 276 handsomely restored guest rooms and suites. Bay View Rooms and Suites offer breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay, and the hotel’s iconic Tower Suite features unparalleled views from a private outdoor deck.
