The Opportunity
As the Director of Player Development, you will be responsible for the strategic management of the Player Development department, overseeing both the Mille Lacs and Hinckley Casinos. This role will report directly to the Head of Marketing Strategy. In this revenue-generating position, you will create an enterprise-wide, data-driven, proactive, strategic plan for Player Development. You will champion a culture shift to celebrate sales. You will focus on nurturing and growing existing loyal players as well as identifying and creating future loyal players. You will develop programs, processes, and events to attract players to choose Grand Casino as their primary venue for gaming and entertainment.
What You Get to Do
- Establish strategies, plans, and programs to ensure the profit growth and expansion of Player Development products and services.
- Maximize Player Development profitability and ensure that discretionary reinvestment in VIP players continues to be profitable and adjusts as necessary.
- Increase revenue through the optimization of Casino Marketing Executives (CME’s) customer lists. Ensures our CMEs are focused on the highest value customers who offer Grand Casino the greatest potential for long-term, incremental and sustainable revenue growth.
- Implement a uniform CRM system across subsidiaries to provide lines of sight and streamline effective reporting.
- Establish a common sales process model tailored to the property’s needs.
- Review compensation structures to incentivize performance to sales plans.
- Improve program margin through management of reinvestment and other expenses.
- Lead an exceptional service culture with high associate and guest satisfaction levels.
- Develop and manage the budget for the Player Development department.
- Continually monitors the impact of our tier benefit program and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Work to develop a strategic VIP calendar of events to grow revenues consistent with property plans and cross property goals.
- Establish the Player Development marketing calendar to include the concepting of special entertainment events, shows, promotions, and parties for VIP players to assure a favorable entertainment and gaming experience.
- Review activities and promotional status with the Head of Marketing Strategy and Vice President of Marketing.
- Demonstrate and provide effective people leadership including recruiting, hiring, training, engaging, and retaining of team members focused on developing business.
- Provide tactical leadership for the CME teams that improves the CME’s ability to acquire and develop new players, reactivate dormant players, and grow the worth of existing players.
- Ensure Player Development incentive/commission/bonus plans are consistently maintained and in alignment with the company’s vision of driving incremental sustainable long-term growth.
- Develop and manage open communications and excellent working relationships with peer groups from all operational areas.
- Assist in development of programs and processes for customer service and recognition of VIP players with emphasis on new and repeat VIP players.
- Monitor and adjust performance to local competition.

What Qualifies You
- Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality, Casino Management, Marketing, or related field and five (5) years of experience as a Director of Player Development, or Ten (10) years of casino marketing experience at a leadership level.
- Resort hotel experience preferred, cross marketing with multiple properties.
- Ability to analyze and interpret departmental needs based on financial reviews.
- Knowledge of database marketing and segmentation.
- Able to assess sales talent and identify gaps, recommend training resources, and recruit sales talent.
- Ability to perform assigned duties in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
- Knowledge and experience with player tracking systems.
- Experience with supporting scale entertainment events preferred.
- Experience with change management and rolling out small- and large-scale initiatives.
- High business intelligence - stays current on marketing trends and our competition.
- Job requires working nights, weekends, and holidays providing leadership for team members and service for our most highly valued guests.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational skills and Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must be able to secure license from Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA).
- Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGR’s).
- Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.
