WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING EACH DAY?
- Direct all maintenance operations for the hotel including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, preventive maintenance, hotel rooms, meetings spaces, restaurant, kitchens and equipment
- Supervise staff including hiring, termination, discipline, development and evaluations
- Ensure all projects are completed including guest room and public area PM programs on time and according to specifications
- Work closely with other departments to ensure coordination of activities
- Manage special projects and resources as needed
- Develop and maintain a maintenance program
- Manage costs/expenses
- Respond and resolve guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner
- Know all emergency procedures (fire, severe weather, bomb threats, guest accident/illness, etc)
- Plan, direct and supervise the daily activities of the Engineering Department
- Maintain a high standard of job performance for all hourly department employees
- Maintain high department productivity
- Perform accurate and efficient repairs on hotel equipment and systems of a technically advanced nature
- Maintain specific and measurable performance notes on all hourly department employees
- Participate in effective performance appraisals for all hourly employees
- Write and post a weekly work schedule for all hourly employees
- Have the knowledge and skills to be able to efficiently and accurately repair HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, machinery, boiler, etc with a minimum need to call outside contractors
- Provide effective training and assistance to all hourly department employees
- Work with outside contractors
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Ability to use various office and accounting software
- Ability to develop management reports, accurately report information, and deliver projects on time
- Efficiently operate small hand tools such as drills, grinders, saws, etc.
- Safely climb ladders and stairs
- Efficiently and safely operate light machinery such as key cutter, drill press, radial arm saw, etc.
- Understand and efficiently operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems
- Efficiently handle test equipment, hand tools, keys, etc
- Lift and carry heavy objects such as boxes, televisions, ladders, etc.
- Train other department members
- Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings and technical parts breakdown
- Efficiently operate all building systems
- Must have a valid driver license
- Must be flexible enough to work any shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of 4-year degree from an accredited university in Engineering or related major or 4 years' experience as a Director of Engineering in a large-scale hotel or similar setting/ or a combination of both experience and education
