Hilton Waikiki Beach is looking for an Assistant Director of Finance to join their team! The Assistant Complex Director of Finance supports the Complex Director of Finance in directing the hotel’s financial activities (including core accounting functions and cost data analytics); safeguarding assets and improving financial performance; preparing all financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles; preparing monthly forecast and annual budget; and providing financial insights and conduct data analytics to proactively monitor areas of potential risks and opportunities for improvement. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of accounting principles, and be highly analytical and detailed oriented while fostering a positive work environment.

Financial Management

  • Perform accounting functions as needed
  • Establish and maintain robust internal control to ensure accuracy in financial statements
  • Develop and maintain cost analysis reports, focusing on operational costs, inventory, labor and other key expense areas across the hotel portfolio
  • Effectively monitor, evaluate and manage departmental expenditures within the established budget by actively monitoring employee productivity, purchasing control systems and implementing relevant initiatives.
  • Provide strategic insights into revenue generation and profitability enhancement by analyzing revenue streams and cost structures, identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies.
  • Establish and monitor scheduling of all accounting team members.
  • Conduct in-depth variance analysis to identify deviations from established budget, assess financial risks and recommend corrective actions to improve profitability.
  • Monitor and manage departmental personnel schedule consistent with business volume.

Accounting Practices, Procedures, and Policies

  • Assist in producing financial statements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with Corporate’s requirements, SOPs and accounting standards.
  • Participate in and critique asset inventories to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and understand sales tax returns and other tax liabilities

Accounts Payable, Payroll and F&B Cost Control

  • Manage and oversee all accounts payable, payroll and income audit functions
  • Ensure timely processing of payroll and payment of accounts payable invoices

Balance Sheet Reconciliation

  • Assist the Complex Director of Finance with period-end reconciliation of balance sheet.
  • Review problem accounts with Complex Director of Finance and make necessary adjustment entries in a timely manner.

Management of Department

  • Recruit identify, screen and attract candidates.
  • Train new and existing team members
  • Adhere to attendance policies and be available to work on a regular basis
  • Manage account balances to identify outstanding liabilities or other inconsistencies
  • Update accounting records with new payments, balances, customer information, etc.
  • Answer questions and handle complaints from customers regarding invoices
  • Handle special projects as requested by Complex Director of Finance
  • Assist in any other duties as needed

Team Leadership/Engagement and Culture

  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Contribute to and implement initiatives that enhance employee engagement and organizational culture.
  • Support efforts in addressing employee feedback and improving workplace morale.

Other Duties

  • Perform tasks/duties as assigned by the Complex Director of Finance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role in the hospitality industry.
  • S. or Associate Degree in Accounting preferred
  • Micros, OnQ, ProfitSage preferred
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and delivering exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments within established guidelines and standard accepted practices.
  • Knowledge of hotel financial statements and reconciliation of assets and liabilities accounts
  • Analytical mindset with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong administrative, managerial and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
