Position Scope
Provide excellent guest service according to the Hay Adams Standard.  Prepare and deliver Room Service orders and amenities to guest rooms, execute designated side-work.  Maintain a high standard of sanitation and cleanliness.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Must have good working knowledge of the English language - ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guest and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • The Hay Adams Handbook, the Department Standard Operating Manual and our policies and procedures are part of this Job Description.
    • Respect guests privacy and property following all hotel guest service procedures and quality standards including; observe do not disturb signs, double locked doors, never touch guest property, never allow entrance to any person to a guest room (refer to Front Desk).
    • Accurately takes orders directly or via phone, when necessary, from patrons requesting “private dining” by following the established standards.  Follow prescribed phone courtesy standards and actively sell food and beverage.
    • Offer information on all menu items, beverage items.  Make knowledgeable, informed and articulate recommendations and suggestions regarding all menu items.  Provide guest with approximate time frame for preparation/delivery and answer and other general guest questions.
    • Receive food and beverage orders from the order taker and process. Set-up Room Service tables according to established standards for food and beverage ordered.
    • Deliver plated food and beverage to guest room making sure all condiments and garnishes are correct.
    • Deliver guest order within specific time period following correct service procedures and Room Service Quality Standards. Return signed guest check or cash to order taker.
    • Carve meats, bone fish and fowl, prepare dishes and dessert at patron’s table. Ladle soup, toss salads, brew coffee and perform other services as determined by establishment.
    • Clean and restock service items according to establishment par levels. Complete all assigned daily side work including any special responsibilities assigned to shift.
    • Pick up room service trays and trolleys from guest’s rooms and/or do “walk through’s” to remove dirty dishes and room service trolleys from “guest floors”, hallways and or pantries.
    • Clean, clear, set and reset room service trolleys according to established standards.  Prepare all mise-en-place required for Room Service.
    • Collect breakfast pre-orders from the kitchen and Room Service station.  Total bill and accept payment.
    • Clean all spills and breakage immediately. Maintain work area in a professional manner. Report any damage or worn items in room service department to manager.
    • This position requires excellent guest service skills and an understanding that customer care has the highest priority.
    • Perform any other reasonable duties as required and directed.
