Houseperson

Purpose and Performance Goals:  The purpose of this job is to perform the duties of the Houseperson in accordance with company standards for satisfactory performance.

Job Description:  To work as a member of the team to maintaining a high standard of cleaning in the hotel and in the public areas assigned to the team.  The following include the essential duties and responsibilities of this job (other duties may be assigned):

• Moves and arranges furniture.
• Polishes metalwork
• Collects soiled linens for laundering and stores linen supplies in linen closet.
• Loads linens into washer and adds specified amount of detergent, soap, or other cleaning agent by programming laundry machines.
• Operates laundry machinery such as washers, driers and ironers.
• Cleans hallways, bathrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, linen closets, storage areas, and other work areas.
• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes floor.
• Washes walls, ceiling and woodwork
• Empties wastebaskets, room attendant trash, and empties and cleans ash urns.
• Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Delivers ironing boards, baby cribs, rollaway beds, and other guest requests to guest rooms.
• Cleans and removes debris from loading dock and break areas.
• Assists in supply and linen inventories.

Education and/or Experience: Less than High School Diploma.  No Experience required.

Language Skills:  Must be able to communicate clearly with guests, customers, supervisor and fellow employees.

Reasoning Ability: Must be able to make appropriate judgements relative to the process of supporting the cleanliness and maintenance of guest rooms/public areas.

Employee must be able to lift/push/pull 50 pounds.  Job frequently requires walking, sitting, kneeling, crouching, and standing.  Frequently requires reaching, grabbing, pulling, and grasping. 

Hours:  Due to the seasonal nature of the hospitality industry, and the fact that the hotel provides guest services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, any employee may be required to work rotating shifts, night shifts, and/or overtime.  Also, depending on the season, hours may be reduced at any time.
