Under the direction of the Manager, Slot Technical, the Assistant Manager, Slot Technical executes department directives, objectives, and communications. The Assistant Manager, Slot Technical assists in the planning and execution of all slot machine and slot system-related projects and oversees the daily activities of the Technical Supervisors and Technical team members. Additionally, they serve as the project leader and are responsible for projects from concept to final implementation. The Assistant Manager, Slot Technical develops thorough training plans and identifies key strategic department needs as they relate to technical advancement and overall efficiency and profitability. The Assistant Technical Manager helps manage costs through responsible use of the parts inventory system and reviewing budgeted costs monthly to ensure compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Executes technical department directives, objectives, and communications to Slot Technical Supervisors and the Technical team.

2. Hires, motivates and mentors staff to ensure commitment to excellence and quality service to all entities of the organization. Develops and leads functional teams and sub-teams to implement and deliver desired project results.

3. Collects and organizes data regularly to track all necessary goal milestones, project dependencies, and overall organizational efficiencies.  Reports on the progress of projects, directives, budgets, and training initiatives. Communicates these in detail upon request and proactively.

4. Assists in planning and implementing all slot machine, slot system, and slot technology-related projects

5. Regularly inspects all technical storage areas to ensure efficient usage and plans logistical-related tasks to maximize slot parts and hardware inventory.

6. Ensures slot machines are maintained, and operational and all hardware and software components are within regulatory compliance.

7. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department and assumes other responsibilities, duties, tasks, and assignments that contribute to the mitigation or response to any public health emergency.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.   Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing, and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.  Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Engineering, or related field required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in slot machine installation, configuration, maintenance, and slot online systems required. 

  • Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience required.

  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

  • Must have an understanding of slot operations and their relation to the organization as a whole.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.

  • Experience in hiring, training, and developing staff required.

  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English; second language skills preferred.

  • Demonstrated maturity and poise; ability to employ perfect discretion in sensitive situations.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

  • Must be self-motivated, friendly, and confident.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
