Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Inventory Product role, will partner with the Director of Inventory Product to ensure a successful configuration and testing of the  Reservation Platform with various impacted Marriott systems. This position will bring knowledge in product development, hospitality processes and best practices to assist in enabling Marriott’s strategy supporting our vision for the sale of lodging and non-lodging products.  The individual will provide guidance based on previous experiences in relation to product definition, system configuration, corporate business rules and system governance. 

The Senior Manager provides Revenue Management, Reservation, project management, and some technical expertise on behalf of the reservation platform when necessary. This candidate must have the ability to partner, present and collaborate on the perspective of various stakeholders including Revenue Management, Reservation, and other product owners.  They will provide critical and necessary information to support the Director, Inventory Product, with making and the execution of decisions to meet project deadlines and goals.  The Senior Manager should demonstrate an ability to deliver results when faced with complexity and ambiguity. 

The Senior Manager will be the Subject Matter expert for the CRS, including but not limited to the areas of Reservations, Groups, Policies, Taxes/Fees, and Property Configuration. They will be responsible for the review of business processes, training materials, job aids and the creation and execution of User Acceptance Testing scenarios as well as supporting Change Management and Communications. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Education and Experience Required

  • 4+ years’ experience in the hospitality industry, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance.
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related major., OR
  • 6 years of relevant professional experience in a related function, demonstrating progressive career growth and pattern of exceptional performance.
  • Involvement and collaboration with varying stakeholder groups
  • Experience with presenting to internal and external audiences, as well as openly listening to feedback.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills with sensitivity to Global communication needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to present ideas, expectations, and information in a concise, well-organized manner to diverse audiences

Education and Experience Preferred

  • 5 years’ experience with Marriott’s systems platforms, which includes: MARSHA, HPP, MarRFP, One Yield, PMS and Total Yield
  • Prior experience evaluating business processes and successfully implementing medium to large-scale projects.
  • Experience as a Product Systems owner in the lodging/hospitality industry experience or a related discipline preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and aggressive deadlines preferred
  • Demonstrated ability of building credibility among peers and senior management

Core Work Activities 

  • Develops use cases for inventory/product definition supporting property configuration, reservations, group lifecycle, pricing/yielding execution, distribution, integration, and systems conversion 
  • Collaborates with cross-organization stakeholders to align strategy
  • Becomes a Subject Matter Expert on all CRS Functional requirements with an understanding of the link to Marriott business processes and impacted systems 
  • Represents the perspectives of various stakeholders including Revenue Management, Reservations, Group Housing, and Sales
  • Provides recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the reservation platform
  • Provides input into the training resources ensuring they are defined and validated to support effective rollout and adoption of the new CRS 
  • Obtains Continent feedback and prioritization on the requirements and recommended processes
  • Provides regular reporting and maintain ongoing communications to the Reservation Platform team
  • Reviews QA test cases, creates and executes extensive effective User Experience Testing, documenting defects in the defined timelines

Managing Projects And Priorities

  • Partner with Marriott Global Technology & third-party vendors to support appropriate technical implementation methods and reasonable implementation schedule.
  • Develop and manage against a complex project plan involving multiple groups and reporting statuses against milestones. 
  • Identifies / prioritizes business needs and opportunities, identifies business scenarios and propose solutions, executes project plans on time and on budget.
  • Executes specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work. 
  • Supports priorities, schedules, plans and necessary resources to ensure completion of any projects on schedule.
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to support the best solution.
  • Provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, and data analysis.
  • Recommends improvements to the effectiveness of processes or programs.
  • Supports achievement of performance goals, budget goals and team goals.

  • Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, and data analysis.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of business priorities.
