We have immediate openings for an energetic, outgoing, customer service oriented, and experienced individuals to fill the position of a Part Time Yoga Instructor to conduct group classes for members and guest; designing choreography and leading, instructing, and motivating class participants.

Job Summary

This position contributes to the success of Los Angeles Athletic Club (“Company”) by creating positive experiences for every member and guest who visits the club by conducting group classes for members and guest; designing choreography and leading, instructing, and motivating class participants. This position also provides excellent service to members and guests in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes wellness; taking initiative to assist member improve their lives and connect with each other.

Responsibilities:

Conduct Efficient Fitness Classes

  • Conduct classes professionally and focus on the wellbeing and quality of service to our members and guests.
  • Manage time effectively to ensure classes begin and end on scheduled time.
  • Greet participants in a warm and friendly manner; introduce yourself, assess if any new members are in class, announce class difficulty level, and explain class structure prior to starting class.
  • Ensure participants can follow instructions; use loud, clear voice, and easy and clear hand/arm directives.
  • Adhere to the description of the class; modify intensity only when appropriate and avoid teaching any contra indicated exercises.
  • Inform and educate participants while teaching the class on proper form and fitness relevant information.
  • Use appropriate music; keep volume at a level that allows you to be heard easily, use music that is not offensive or unpleasant.
  • Be a role model to participants; be aware class participant’s abilities; give individual attention where necessary, always project a friendly, outgoing, helpful manner to all members and guests at all times; communicate with members and guests in a positive manner, encouraging their fitness goals and remaining aware of their comfort level.

Perform Program Responsibilities Accurately and Timely

  • You must sign-in and document attendance of class participation
  • Every shift, check your individual file folder for athletic updates and supervisor communication.
  • Weekly check the group exercise schedule; communicate any anticipated changes to your supervisor in advance.
  • Follow the guidelines for class substitution that are documented in the Group Exercise procedures.
  • Communicate member feedback, equipment, and operational issues to your supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Effectively resolve customer concerns; take accountability, listen to member’s point of view, remain calm, offer solutions.

Education, licenses, & certifications:

  • Required: Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in same or similar positions in the fitness industry
  • Required: Group Class, Yoga or Pilates Certification(s)
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Ideal: Bachelor’s or Master’s College Degree in Fitness or related field
  • Ideal: Current California Driver License with satisfactory Department of Motor Vehicle driving record.

Essential qualifications:

  • Required: At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Required: Reliable and punctual attendance.
  • Required: Excellent time-management skills; prioritizing and completing assigned job tasks effectively.
  • Ideal: Bi-lingual oral, speech, and writing skills in English or other language is an asset in this position
  • Required: Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ideal: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey messages clearly and compose correspondence with correct and proper grammar.
  • Required: Strong presentation skills; convey messages clearly and confidently; persuade and effect change positively.
  • Required: Capable of working effectively independently with minimal supervision
  • Ideal: High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Required: Strong organizational skills
  • Required: Ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently meet deadlines and produce work in a timely manner.
  • Required: Ability to elicit and accept constructive feedback.

Physical requirements, Demands, and working conditions:

Physical Exertion 

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Work involves sitting most of the time; walking and standing are required only occasionally.

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects (for example, using misc. fitness equipment for class).

Pay: Hourly Base Rate $19.73 USD, Class rate would be at a higher rate.
