Overview

Opportunity: IT Internship

As a Level 1 IT Intern, you will be part of our dynamic IT team, assisting in the day-to-day operations and providing support to ensure the smooth functioning of our organization's technological infrastructure. This internship offers an invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop fundamental skills in various areas of information technology.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide technical assistance and support to end-users regarding computer systems, software, hardware, and network-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic technical problems encountered by users, escalating more complex issues to higher-level IT staff as necessary.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, peripherals, and software applications.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks such as user account management, password resets, and access permissions.
  • Document IT procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to implement IT projects and initiatives effectively.
  • Assist in inventory management, including tracking and maintaining IT assets.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to contribute fresh ideas and insights to the team.

Position Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an associate or bachelor's degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in IT support or related areas.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and software applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with users of varying technical backgrounds.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service or technical support role.
  • Familiarity with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) principles and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and remote support tools.

Work Environment and Context 

  • Requires sitting for extended periods, use of hands and fingers to operate computers and keyboards.
