JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction and supervision of the Patient Equipment Managers, the Patient Equipment Technician is based in the Facility Services Department and assists the hospital in provision of patient equipment by performing equipment delivery and retrieval duties in the following areas: Inpatient Nursing Units, Emergency Department, Admitting and other departments as directed. The Equipment Specialist will perform cleaning functions as assigned and/or as necessary

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintains safe behavior per the Hospital’s strict safety guidelines.
  2. Adheres to the standards, policies and procedures of the Hospital, following safety guidelines for self, patients, visitors and other employees.
  3. Adheres to dress code and badge identification policies as required by the hospital.
  4. Adheres to the HIPAA standards for protecting patient information.
  5. Adheres to the guidelines provided within the multiple standard work documents supplied to them.
  6. Transports equipment in a manner complying with established LPCH & SHC guidelines.
  7. Answers iPhones using all appropriate functions of the EPIC Transport Rover system and delivers equipment requests within the timeline specified in the Equipment Technician Guide book.
  8. Communicates effectively in a clear, concise manner.
  9. Demonstrates ability to organize workload by setting priorities.
  10. Contributes to the unit, department and hospital goals.
  11. Meets work agreements and responsibilities as defined within the PEMS Technicians Guide book.
  12. Adheres to the HIPAA standards for protecting patient information.
  13. Clean, pickup, distribute and store routine inventory items in accordance with established guidelines/policies or as directed.
  14. Perform daily rounds twice per shift in consonance with the PEMS Tech I Rounding standard work document.
  15. Pickup and/or deliver Dialysis & ITA equipment as required.
  16. Log-out/tag-out broken equipment, ensure work orders are generated for the appropriate repair entity and facilitate transfer of these items to appropriate repair location.
  17. Ensure the prompt delivery (15 minutes of less) of high-priority Respiratory Therapy equipment.
  18. Keeps PEMS work areas neat and organized with the equipment at the lowest possible profile.
  19. Elevates customer service complaints/issues promptly to the PEMS management staff.
  20. Logs out of Epic Rover 15 minutes prior to the end of their shift to complete all end-of-shift tasks and job requirements, check work e-mail and complete their assigned reports.
  21. Does not engage in personal tasks during their work shift unless on their 15-minute break or lunch, including but not limited to, use of a personal cell phone or other personal electronics, eating, or using the internet.

The Technician may work in any type of location on client premises. This individual performs maintenance on various types of machines. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintains, repairs, and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices suchas personal computers, electronic transmitting and receiving equipment etc.
  • Disassembles machines and repairs or replaces broken parts.
  • Adjusts functional parts of electronic devices as necessary.
  • Orders replacement parts.
  • Inspects completed repairs.
  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
  • Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Willingness to be open to learning and growing.
  • Maturity of judgment and behavior.
  • Maintains high standards for work areas and appearance.
  • Attends work and shows up for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity in light of Sodexo time and attendance policy and/or client operating hours.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must comply with any dress code requirements.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 1 year of related work experience.

  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism andrespect.

License/Qualifications

  •  A valid driver’s license may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds.

Working Conditions (may add additional conditions specific to defined work location):

  • Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends and extended hours as business dictates.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled, temperate environment; however, may be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Wears protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or governmental regulations.
