Position Summary:

Design leads Heritage’s direction in all aspects of the brand. As designers with Heritage, we curate the New Mexican lifestyle by combining the rich historical narratives with the essence of our brand. Candidates should be able to combine a creative mindset with strategic thinking, and have the ability to engage with owners, department leaders, project managers, multiple disciplines and internal stakeholders. As a design team, we assist in conceptualizing and developing design, making sure each of our hotels stay true to their individual stories, while helping to celebrate and add to the overall parent company of Heritage Hotels.

At the project level, a successful CAD drafts person provides important drawings and assists in design for internal reviews and municipal approvals. Must have experience as a CAD drafts person, CAD Technician, AutoCAD Drafter or CAD Designer. A portfolio must show proven skills of designing/drafting projects for hotels, industrial buildings, restaurants, or residential spaces. Should have a degree, certificate of completion, or work related experience for computer aided drafting.

The CAD Drafter/Designer also will help to ensure that design standards are adhered to both programmatically and for quality. Candidates will work on a variety of hospitality driven design projects that exists in retail, food, and beverage, as well as entertainment settings. Collaboration, commitment, and cooperation are all attributes that are a must for fostering relationships that permit great solutions. Expected Contributions:

  • Attends site surveys as needed to provide architectural design support and input to help determine scope of work.
  • May help in developing architectural and interior design concepts for assigned projects.
  • Ensures that all program requirements and criteria are met with operations and the Design Team.
  • Responsible for drawing custom furniture and fixtures for hospitality and food & beverage projects.
  • Manages multiple design projects, under direction of design directors, in support of brand or business unit growth goals.
  • Participates in developing and maintaining a project schedule and budget.
  • Maintains liaison with all appropriate divisions and departments and outside consultants.
  • Represents design team in project meetings. Prepares reports as required.
  • Contributes to preparation of presentation boards and digital presentations for internal and external review and may be asked to present design concepts to clients.
  • Participates in process development and improvement activities using best practice as guideline.
  • Provides work direction and assists assigned personnel in the fulfillment of their responsibilities.
  • Ensures that work is completed in budgeted time and in accordance with project schedule.
  • Monitors brand standards with outside architectural consultants and in-house disciplines.

  • Work with architects and interior designers to prepare original drawings and revisions of construction and renovation projects using AutoCAD and other supportive design software.
  • Provide other services including as-built documentation and site inspections on an as-needed basis.
  • Understands architecture documents and contract documents
  • Review shop drawings by vendors and able to make necessary changes when needed.
  • Knowledge of FF&E specification software
  • Proficient in using AutoCad, SketchUp, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Google Drive-Docs/Sheets, Microsoft Office
  • Not required but a bonus, 3D rendering capabilities using Revit, VRay with SketchUp and basic intermediate level experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, & InDesign).


  • Degree from an accredited architectural, drafting, interior, or environmental design program or proven level of industry experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the design or architecture field, preferably in the hospitality design industry.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • NCIDQ certificate preferred.
