About This Job

BASIC FUNCTION:  The Environmental Services Attendant is to ensure that standards of cleanliness in assigned areas are achieved and maintained on a consistent basis to provide the highest level of guest satisfaction in cleanliness and service, within the established time limitations.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must have High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age upon employment.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain valid gaming license if applicable.
  • Must be able to work on feet for an extended period of time.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must be able to work nights, holidays and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain valid gaming license.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Maintains the cleanliness of assigned guest areas by high dusting of walls, vacuuming, refilling, cleaning and stamping of sand urns. Cleans and polishes guest and service elevator door tracks. Marks removal of hallway wallpaper. Dusts and washes hallway lights. Washes hallway windows. Cleans vending machine rooms.
  2. Assists Room Attendants with heavy lifting and trash removal.
  3. Ensures that linen closets are stocked with all guest room supplies and collateral.
  4. Maintains proper allotment of linens in linen closet.
  5. Responsible for removing trash and soiled linens from Room Attendants carts throughout the day.
  6. Responsible for cleanliness of linen closets in assigned areas, including sweeping and mopping.
  7. Cleans emergency stairways, including sweeping and mopping and cleaning of light fixtures.
  8. Cares for equipment and machines.
  9. Maintains constant awareness of safety hazards (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons) and reports them to management.  Follows all training procedures set forth in the “Blood borne Pathogens Program”.
  10. Practices safety standards at all times.
  11. Remains alert, courteous and helpful to guests and co-workers at all times.
  12. Performs other related reasonable duties capable of being performed as requested by Management.

Soon the Cook family, devoted preservationists who themselves led the restoration of many Indiana buildings, joined the cause and committed more than $500 million dollars to not only save the West Baden Springs Hotel but also the French Lick Springs Hotel. The Cook family wanted their preservation work to result in living, breathing historic places that would be around for centuries to come.
