The Opportunity

As the Director of Finance, you will lead the financial management and strategic analysis for Grand Casinos, overseeing all finance-related functions both directly and indirectly. You will collaborate closely with the Assistant General Manager (AGM) and other executive leaders to bolster business objectives and enhance financial performance. This role involves partnering with both strategic and operations teams to refine financial strategies and with counterparts at sister properties to set goals, streamline processes, and drive efficiencies.

  • Spearhead the development and implementation of robust financial processes to support ongoing and future business expansion.
  • Oversee the management of capital planning both in the short term and long term.
  • Provide critical financial insights and analyses to optimize financial operations within the casino, collaborating closely with the AGM and finance analysts.
  • Lead the consolidation of financial data, preparation of financial reports, and cost analysis to maximize profit margins.
  • Liaise with corporate services including accounting, treasury, procurement, and compliance teams.
  • Direct the annual budgeting and forecasting activities for the department.
  • Champion the adoption and effective use of the Workday ERP system, evaluating the technological investments' ROI.
  • Ensure efficient compilation of data for financial reporting and adherence to GAAP standards.
  • Implement controls and manage risks in accordance with corporate compliance guidelines.
  • Supervise financial reporting, budget analysis, and trend analysis to support executive decision-making.
  • Offer strategic financial guidance to senior management, promoting financial strategies aligned with overall organizational goals.

What Qualifies You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; or eight (8) years of related experience, or a combination of both.
  • At least five years of progressive leadership experience in finance.
  • Experience in high-level financial management, reporting directly to senior executives such as GM, AGM or CEO.
  • Must be able to secure a license from Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA).
  • Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGR’s).
  • Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.

Grand Casino Mille Lacs is located in Onamia, Minnesota. The casino features more than 1,800 slot machines, poker and blackjack, pull tabs and bingo, three restaurants, large convention facilities and a 494-room hotel. The casino currently employs more than 1,200 area residents.
