Compensation: $54,080 to $67,600 per year, Temps plein

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

To provide our guests with the highest standard of cleanliness while maintaining operating expenses within the budget guidelines.  Provide leadership within the Housekeeping Department by reinforcing standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:

  • Supervise the cleaning of all Hotel guest rooms, public areas and designated back of the house areas.
  • Communicate with guests and employees both verbally and in writing to answer questions and provide clear direction in advising and instructing staff in details of work.
  • Develop, implement and maintain an ongoing general cleaning program
  • Supervise and administer all outside cleaning contracts. 
  • Knowledge and ability to schedule all Housekeeping Department employees.
  • Weekly payroll administration.
  • Develop implement and maintain effective guest relation programs
  • Effectively handle and respond to guest relations programs.
  • Manage to control payroll and expenses in Housekeeping to maximize profit.
  • Perform quality audits and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Assists Director of Housekeeping in the preparation of daily and weekly payroll.
  • Work within annual, monthly and forecasted budgets for housekeeping.
  • Maintenance and logging of all Lost & Found items throughout the hotel with follow up to guests when necessary.
  • Ensure staff adheres to Hotel Policies and Procedures take corrective action when necessary.
  • Maintain communication with staff, colleagues and other departments to provide effective information and feedback.
  • Hold monthly department meetings and communicate department goals and objectives.
  • Develop and train housekeeping supervisors and line staff.
  • Develop recognition programs implementation and consistency.
  • Maintain all designated housekeeping areas to meet fire prevention codes and OSHA codes.
  • Ensure Show Time is conducted in all areas and all colleagues are fully versed in Langham’s company philosophy, Brand Standards and Forbes service standards 
  • See that all housekeeping staff is well groomed and uniform policies are adhered to.
  • Complete employees’ performance reviews and salary increases in a timely manner. 
  • Maintain low employee turnover.
  • Participate in Manager on Duty Program.
  • Assist supervisors and line staff in securing all supplies and tools necessary for the completion of their jobs. 
  • Report all suspicious persons, actions, hazardous conditions etc. to the security division.
  • Respond to guest questions and offer assistance and information as requested.
  • Provide instruction and guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as requested by Supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Requires walking 75% of the workday.

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to reach, lift, bend, stoop, stand and walk continuously, climb stairs, and push or pull heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read and write basic English to complete forms and create memos for staff if necessary.
  • Ability to provide clear direction, instruction and guidance to staff. 
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and implement control over the performance of subordinates
  • Must have ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to work with a variety of people with different back grounds and from different cultures
  • Must be able to understand the government regulations covering business operations.
  • Must have good verbal and written skills.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

At least two years related work experience required. Must have experience directly supervising employees. Housekeeping and/or hotel experience preferred.

SALARY RANGE:

$54,080 - $67,600/annually

The Langham Chicago

The Langham, Chicago, opened its doors July 2013.  The 52-story building, situated on the plaza overlooking the River, was designed by famed Chicago architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.  Langham Chicago takes up 13 floors of the iconic building.  The ground floor reception area designed by Dirk Lohan of Lohan Anderson, was van der Rohe's grandson and the Lobby is a tribute to his grandfather's distinctive style showcasing period and contemporary influences.  Throughout the hotel, you will find many influences of Mies van der Rohe.
