Banquet Captain

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Banquet Captain is responsible for the execution and operations of banquet and catering events as well as the training and coaching all Banquet service employees, managing payroll regarding the efficiency and effectiveness of the staff, and maintaining inventory and supplies as necessary and needed to supporting catering business.

Job Duties

• Responsible for setting up, executing and tearing down banquet and catering events.
• Plan, organize, lead and oversee the execution of assigned conventions/ banquet events.
• Supervise and train all banquet employees
• Train, coach, develop, mentor and inspire employees’ standards.
• Ensure the smooth, timely and efficient service for all banquet events to ensure a great experience for all of our guests and banquet employees.
• Conduct shift meetings with all Banquet employees assigning opening and closing duties, specific sections of responsibility and facilitating the flow of information throughout the department.
• Ensure inventory control, allowing sufficient products to be on hand to service banquet guests.
• Consistently follow sequence of service utilizing all proper procedures standardized by management.
• Rotate to other Food & Beverage outlets/venues, as necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness and stock of assigned work areas.
• Anticipate the guests’ needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency.
• Maintain level of professionalism that will make guest want to return.
• Provide proper communication and promptly resolve guest issues.
• Obtain and maintain position-specific licensing.
• Work as a team, assisting all guests’ needs and inquiries.
• Ensure all Conrad Nashville core values and property and department standards are implemented and applied.
• Other duties as assigned e.g. inspect rooms prior to event (pristine condition), Mandatory walkthrough, captain report

• Education and Experience
• 3+ years of experience in a hotel, restaurant, or catering facility of similar caliber preferred.
• Experience in fast paced, high volume atmosphere.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to read, write & speak fluent English.
• Flexible schedule is necessary which includes but not limited to days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
