Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent experience. Ability to read, write, speak, and give and follow written and oral directions in English.

Training and Experience:  Must have at least 3-5 years of banquet set-up in a leadership role and/or management experience in a Hotel/ Resort.

Job Knowledge:  Must have a working knowledge of banquet set-ups and equipment, to include weddings, meetings and various other catered events.  Must possess management tools to include a high proficiency in organizational skills.  A professional understanding of the common courtesy laws and positive internal and external relations skills required. 

Job Summary:  Must ensure all meeting, banquet and storage areas are organized and set to the 5 diamond standards established.  This would include being responsible for cleaning, servicing and maintenance of all function rooms and storage space.  Accountability for the care of all banquet equipment and any related service areas.   Fulfill internal management duties as assigned.  Provide total quality hospitality, guest satisfaction, exceeding the Ponte Vedra standard, while controlling costs. 

Physical Abilities:  Must be able to work while moving about at a quick pace for several hours at a time. Lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds, to include furniture, glasses, dishes, ice, packages and other related items.

Job Duties and Functions

  1. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include weekends, holidays and split shifts if needed.
  2. Arrive to work promptly and consistently.
  3. Upon entering the property, arrive in proper uniform, crisp, clean and in a good condition.
  4. Hair must be clean and cut in a becoming style; management has final approval.
  5. Attend all required training, safety courses, office and departmental meetings.
  6. Report any safety hazards, follow up that hazard has been corrected and assist with providing a safe work environment.   
  7. Responsible for maintenance and proper storage of all banquet equipment, complete maintenance requests, putting copy in Director’s office and following up in a timely manner. 
  8. Throughout the shift, check all meeting rooms, breaks, and storage areas for proper service levels, neatness, cleanliness, and proper storage of equipment.  Secure said areas if necessary. 
  9. Monitor any breakage damage or loss of Banquet equipment, furnishings, or rooms. Notify Banquet Director of any problems.
  10. Eliminate all safety hazards and report all injuries and accidents to Security and the Banquet Director.
  11. Follow and enforce all energy conservation and accident/loss prevention guidelines.
  12. Courteously respond to all Guest requests, contact Banquet Director as needed.
  13. Submit inventories as assigned by Banquet Director.  Establish and maintain par levels for Banquet equipment. 
  14. Assist all Conference and Catering Managers with their clients’ needs.
  15. Perform all other duties that will assist in quality service as assigned by the Banquet Director.
  16. Provide monthly equipment inventory updates.
  17. Conduct daily storeroom organization duties.
  18. Ensure all silver service ware is being polished on a weekly basis.
  19. Conduct a weekly walk through of all Conference and Catering space notating all needed repairs and maintenance for all meeting space and lobbies.
  20. Attend BEO meetings on Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s.
  21. Research pricing on any needed equipment replacements.
  22. Obtain qualified quotes for equipment replacements.
  23. Submit equipment replacement quotes to Banquet Director for approval.
  24. Place orders for approved equipment replacements.
  25. Research trends in new equipment uses in Banquets and Catering.
  26. Report any losses of equipment immediately to Banquet Director.
  27. Responsible for Orientation and training of newly hired Banquet equipment Set Up Attendants; provide ongoing training for existing staff.
  28. Responsible for the hiring, discipline and performance of Banquet equipment Set Up Attendants; advise Banquet Director of any performance problems.
  29. Perform annual appraisals on all Banquet equipment Set-up Attendants.
