ESSENTIAL PURPOSE: To actively manage Splashes front of house staff and the efficient operations of the Restaurant to ensure cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appeal of the restaurant, including the optimal dining experience of all restaurant guests.
The expected base wage range for this position is: $74,400 to $86,300 per year. This position may be eligible for additional compensation according to the Company's policies, as they may be amended from time to time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- To uphold and implement Forbes standards, ensuring meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of guest service.
- To conduct daily pre-shift meetings that emphasize excellence, incorporating Forbes standards, role-playing scenarios, and exercises focused on anticipating guest needs.
- To actively engage with guests to create memorable experiences, demonstrating attentiveness and personalized service from arrival to departure.
- To maintain a proactive approach to guest satisfaction by regularly monitoring guest feedback and implementing necessary adjustments for service improvement.
- To train, mentor, and inspire team members through a commitment to continuous improvement, including:
- Ongoing Training Programs: Organize and participate in luxury service training sessions, keeping the team updated on evolving industry standards and performance expectations on service techniques and menu knowledge, with the goal of continuous skill development.
- Performance Management: Regularly review team performance with constructive feedback and coaching, ensuring each member embodies luxury service principles and meets company standards.
- To provide assistance, support and maintain highest possible levels of employee morale and department productivity.
- To interview, hire, and discipline, up to and including termination, of employees directly accountable to his/her position.
- To create and post schedules for Splashes Restaurant employees on a weekly basis.
- To monitor labor costs and overtime to ensure payroll costs stay within budgetary guidelines.
- To inform restaurant staff of various hotel functions, to enable them to provide personalized service to restaurant guests.
- To assist in continuously monitoring and controlling departmental expenditures to ensure meeting operational standards while maintaining annual budget.
- To develop, oversee, and manage all aspects of restaurant and bar operations, including inventory control, cost management, and menu updates to ensure profitability while maintaining quality standards.
- To conduct frequent service inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and luxury brand standards.
- To collaborate closely with the Chef and culinary team to deliver seamless service, addressing any operational needs or challenges in real-time.
- To establish and maintain dining room policies and procedures, including service style, to ensure professional standards of restaurant operation.
- To monitor the mystery shopping scores and to take appropriate action, as needed (i.e., operational adjustments, additional service training, staff recognition, or disciplinary action, if warranted).
- To understand and respond to all guest and employee needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
- To support other departments in managing the Pool and Beach, indoor and outdoor Lounges and cafe as needed, as well as performing other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.
- To satisfactorily complete daily paperwork, as required, including logs, pass-on notes and reports.
- To plan and oversee festivities for special holidays.
- To follow all specified procedures to correctly handle all cash, credit, and gift certificate transactions, including the proper use of Micros computer systems.
- To report and coordinate all needed equipment repairs and general restaurant maintenance.
- To attend hotel functions, as directed.
- To conduct departmental safety training for all new Splashes employees, before they begin to work.
- To conduct regular departmental operations meetings, including monthly safety meetings.
- To collaborate with Human Resources to seek guidance and assistance as it relates to the management of employee performance
QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent required. Excellent use of the English language. Must have minimum two years of experience in similar position in an establishment of comparable quality. Must have thorough knowledge of all aspects of restaurant and bar operations and budgets, and have overall knowledge of food and beverage, and service standards and procedures. Familiar with Micros computer systems. Familiar with OSHA, SB198, local Department of Health regulations, California liquor laws, and relevant current laws governing handling of hazardous substances. A valid food handlers card must be timely obtained upon hire and maintained in good standing, which time and expense may be compensable. A valid California Responsible Beverage Service certification is required. Current CPR certification preferred. Hotel experience preferred.
SKILLS AND APTITUDES: Demonstrated ability to train staff and ensure luxury resort customer service. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail oriented. Organized and efficient. Safety-minded. High quality standards for production and service. Diplomatic and calm. Good team player. Customer service focus.
PHYSICAL / MENTAL DEMANDS: Stands/walks approximately 80% of shift. Sits at desk approximately 20% of shift. Occasionally required to handle and move objects weighing up to 30 lbs. over short distances. Must be able to work well under pressure. Flexibility required to work long, sometimes irregular hours. Frequent use of stairs, daily. Fast-paced work environment. Guest facing position that may handle conflict and/or encounter individuals who may be upset and emotional at times.
TRAVEL: This position is not expected to travel for work.
REMOTE WORK: This position is not eligible to work remotely. The candidate must be able to work in-person during normal business hours.
