ESSENTIAL PURPOSE:

To oversee the promotion, sales, coordination and facilitation of Wedding and Catering events at the resort.

The expected base wage range for this position is: $66,560 to $70,400/year. This position may be eligible for additional compensation according to the Company's policies, as they may be amended from time to time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

    • To actively pursue prospective clients for future and repeat business, and to build long-term client relationships by delivering a successful event program.
    • To actively maintain a competitive analysis of pricing and offerings by researching the local competitors.
    • To be responsible for identifying and attending professional events and trade shows throughout the year to target new business for the hotel.
    • To negotiate and execute Catering Agreements customized for each customer/group event.
    • To manage all aspects of sales while achieving specific individual and team revenue goals.
    • To partner with the sales team to optimize property spaces in ways that drive profitability and align with the goals of all departments.
    • To use professional acumen and independent judgment to prepare, present and negotiate contract proposals, including pre-determining availability of rooms, meeting space, verifying client history and securing deposits.
    • To provide prompt and professional response to all verbal and written inquiries regarding hotel facilities and catering capabilities.
    • To block appropriate banquet space to best utilize hotel facilities.
    • To personally conduct informational tours of the facility with all prospective clients.
    • To meet and greet clients prior to scheduled functions and introduce them to key hotel staff.
    • To oversee and support the planning and execution of client events, providing an exceptional experience for guests and maintaining high standards.
    • To create Banquet Event Orders detailing each event’s purpose, menu, room set-ups, Audio Visual needs, décor, billing instructions, and all special instructions and requests to operational departments of the hotel.
    • To plan, oversee, and ensure proper execution of all aspects of catering events, including menu selection, room set-up and service, ceremony coordination, flowers, and decorations, entertainment and all other special requests.
    • To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
    • To produce all correspondence, including inquiry letters, contractual proposals, deposit confirmations, and thank you letters.
    • To collect deposits and payments in accordance with contractual terms and SOP standards.
    • To use good time management skills and meet all anticipated deadlines in prioritizing work and scheduling appointments.
    • To attend hotel functions, as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Sales & Marketing, or equivalent experience required. English fluency required. Must have minimum two years of experience in catering sales, banquet management or meeting sales or coordination. Must have extensive knowledge of food, wines, and cocktails. Must be computer literate. Delphi experience preferred. Valid California driver’s license required. Proof of personal automobile insurance coverage required. Hotel experience required.

Courteous, friendly, and professional manner. Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively with little supervision. Trustworthy and reliable.

PHYSICAL / MENTAL DEMANDS: Stands/walks approximately 20% of shift. Sits at desk or in meetings approximately 80% of shift. Uses computer approximately 80% of shift. Must be able to work under pressure. Must be flexible to work long, sometimes irregular hours. Heavy use of phones, daily. Use of stairs, daily. Fast-paced work environment. Guest facing position that may handle conflict and/or encounter individuals who may be upset and emotional at times.

TRAVEL: This position is not expected to travel for work.

REMOTE WORK: This position is not eligible to work remotely. The candidate must be able to work in-person during normal business hours.
