Doubletree by Hilton Newark Penn Station is seeking a Bellman/Van Driver. The purpose of a Bellman/Van Driver is to transport guests and fellow associates to and or from the hotel and local areas in a friendly, efficient and courteous manner using safe driving practices.
Attached to Newark Penn Station, The Doubletree by Hilton Newark Penn Station hotel provide guests with an easy and quick access to the train station. The hotel is centrally located in the heart of downtown Newark, offering a convenient way to explore New York City and the surrounding areas.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists passengers in boarding and exiting the vehicle, using the proper tools as necessary following the safety guidelines, including a step stool.
- Assists guests with luggage including delivery inside the hotel and pick up of guest luggage from the curb.
- Maintains an accurate shuttle activity and maintenance log.
- Communicates by two way radio and in person in a courteous, friendly and professional manner with all guests, hotel staff, and co-workers.
- Acknowledges and greets guests with a smile.
- Must be able to learn and remember pick-up and destination points, knowledge of hotel(s), main attractions in the area, and local events.
- Must have knowledge of all property parking lot entrances and exits, streets and local highways.
- Provides guest with directions as needed.
- Ability to safely drive in all variations of weather.
- Practices safety procedures at all times, including wearing seat belt and obeying all traffic laws.
- Reports needed repairs and unsafe conditions to supervisor and follows direction to seek vehicle repairs.
Job Qualifications:
- Valid Class B license is required.
- Professional, positive attitude and actions when communicating with guests and team members.
- Knowledge of hotel and the city.
- Ability to understand and obey all traffic rules, speed limits and federal, state and local driving regulations.
- Ability to operate a computer, printer, copier, and telephone.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible and efficient while maintaining a pleasant cheerful demeanor.
- Physical work is a primary part of the job and it is performed both inside the hotel, and inside and outside of a vehicle.
- The work involves exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds.
- The job requires close and distance vision with or without corrective lenses.
- Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling.
