Practice Hospitality is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to join the team at the Mining Exchange Hotel & Spa.

About The Hotel

Mining Exchange Hotel & Spa was built in 1902 as a stock exchange for local mining companies, The Mining Exchange Hotel & Spa offers a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. Our elegant, yet casual public spaces, and guestrooms are all newly renovated.

Job Role

The Events Manager is responsible for the management of contracted groups and social event food/beverage and meeting room revenues and experiences, room block management, negotiation of supplier services. Ensuring event planner satisfaction while meeting and or exceeding department and individual revenue goals

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively attain assigned sales and revenue goals as well as solicitation call goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate trends within your market segment.
  • Adheres to Practice Hospitality’s established regulations company standards sales standards and sales metrics related.
  •  Follows proper event management procedures for event execution to include but not limited to BEO creation, resume communication and room block management
  • Accurately produces and/or reviews all catering contracts and/or banquet/catering event orders
  • Listens and reads the customer; identifies needs and responds accordingly
  • Presents the value of each piece of business against hotel objectives at daily RevMax meeting
  • Utilize the event space to maximum capacity through space optimization
  • Understands sales strategies and tactics of competitor hotels; effectively capitalizes on hotel’s strengths and competitor’s weaknesses
  •  Looks for ways to improve processes and enhance sales, banquets and catering communications
  • Responds to all leads and RFPs within 24 hours
  • Maintains accurate and timely internal hotel communication
  • Conducts site inspections local sales calls and attends appropriate trade shows and client events
  • Promotes hotel through personal involvement in community and business networking organizations
  • Maintain strong visibility in local community and industry organizations as applicable.
  • Attend daily/weekly/monthly meetings and any other functions required by management.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the General Manager or Director of Sales

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of two years’ experience in hotel sales.
  • Basic knowledge of the hotel structure/layout and how all departments interact. Basic knowledge of various types of set up styles used in the meeting rooms.
  • Basic knowledge of audio-visual equipment, telecom equipment, lighting and room temperature control.
  • Extensive knowledge of market and related meeting industry.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Quantitative processing of data via office machine equipment, mathematical computations, and analytical skills necessary to accurately determine and communicate financial, forecasting and space utilization calculations.
  • Proficiency in the use and operation of computer systems with the ability to navigate efficiently through Word, Excel, Outlook, in house sales system
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, proposals, general correspondence and similar written materials.
  • Possess a good conceptual understanding of electronic devices and the ability to operate such items as copy machines, slide projectors, microphones, computers, portable radios, pagers, etc. Ability to complete a contract in compliance with all checklists, standards and hotel policies. Interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction.

Compensation: $60k-to$70k salary range -annually paid on a biweekly basis
