Compass by Margaritaville in Pigeon Forge is seeking an experienced General Manager for the new resort-style hotel at the Great Smoky Mountains.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering excellent guest experiences and will enthusiastically take responsibility for building a first-class team and cultivating a terrific culture. 

Compass by Margaritaville is one of the latest additions to the global lifestyle brand's growing collection of concepts, where casual luxury, comfort, and convenience all meet in a boutique hotel style.

This new hotel in Pigeon Forge is scheduled to open in late 2024 and features 162 resort-style rooms and comprehensive full-service amenities including the Five O’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill, an indoor and outdoor pool with a lazy river, plunge pool, and terrace bar, and a complimentary buffet breakfast.  Guests will check in and chill out with Margaritaville’s signature casual-luxe design, iconic décor, outstanding customer service, and time-tested lifestyle of fun and escapism.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of operations at the hotel, including day-to-day staff management and guest experiences across all departments. He / She will be the chief ambassador for the hotel both on property and in the community.  The General Manager will work closely with the management company, owners, and other stakeholders to drive results in the areas of guest service and satisfaction, team member engagement, sales and marketing, property appearance, and financial performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•           Work with Human Resources to recruit and hire high-quality managers and employees to staff the hotel prior to opening and to train them in accordance with company policies

•           Responsible for ensuring the “LOVE MY JOB" culture within all departments.

•           Oversee all operational functions of the hotel

•           Supervise all department managers and work closely with each manager and department on a daily basis.

•           Ensure full compliance with hotel operating controls, SOP’s, policies, procedures and service standards.

•           Handling guest and e complaints and overseeing the service recovery process.

•           Responsible for the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of the hotel's annual Operating Budget, Marketing & Sales Plan and Capital Budget.

•           Manage on-going profitability of the hotel, ensure revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and/or exceeded.

•           Ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of the property and management.

•           Deliver hotel budget goals and set other short and long-term strategic goals for the property.

•           A strong understanding of P&L statements and the ability to react with impactful strategies

•           Closely monitor the hotel’s business reports on a daily basis and track monthly financial outlooks for all departments, taking actions accordingly.

•           Help in the procurement of operating supplies and equipment and contracting with third-party vendors for essential equipment and services.

•           Effectively mentor and develop managers and staff to ensure career progression and development.

•           Safeguard the quality of operations; respond to audits to ensure continual improvement

•           Ensure daily operations and activities at the hotel are fully compliant with applicable laws and regulations

•           Work with Revenue and Sales management to manage all revenue, sales, marketing and PR activities.

•           Other duties as directed

PREREQUISITES:

•           Strong management skills, ability to appropriately assign or delegate work and authority to others in the accomplishment of goals, and provide coaching, advice and assistance as required.

•           The successful candidate will be a strong, self-motivated, and hands-on leader with extensive full-service hotel experience.

•           3+ years as a General Manager (preferred) or as an Assistant General Manager at a full-service hotel.

•           Experience in managing Food & Beverage outlets.

•           Strong sales department oversite

•           Must be proficient in Microsoft Office- Outlook, Word, and Excel.

•           Effective written and verbal communication, skills exercising patience, tact and diplomacy.

•           Experience in opening, managing or re-positioning a hotel with clear record of accomplishment.

•           A strong understanding of P&L statements and the ability to react with impactful strategies.

•           Must be willing to work days, nights, holidays and weekends.

•           Friendly, outgoing personality and professional appearance required.

•           Must be able to work under a high volume and handle stress in a positive way.

•           Ability to think critically and work independently.

•           Able to pass a background check.
