Description

JOB PURPOSE

This varied and busy role will involve routine and reactive repair as well as general maintenance of the building. As part of the Engineering department, you will be part of the team that looks after our customers both internal and externally.

JOB OUTCOMES

Repair and Maintenance Activities

  • Ensure light globes are continuously checked and replaced as needed.
  • Complete painting duties to ensure surfaces remain in first-class condition.
  • Conduct minor furniture and carpentry repairs.
  • Complete minor mechanical repairs and maintenance such as filter changing.
  • Carry out basic repairs to guestroom A/C units.
  • Trouble shoot and repair in-house TV system in guestrooms.
  • Conduct basic plumbing repairs, tap ware, toilets and shower heads. 
  • Carry out assigned tasks by management.

Physical duties

  • Lifting furniture and other equipment.
  • Transporting furniture and other equipment.
  • Climbing ladders.
  • Working in enclosed areas.
  • Pushing trolleys.

Customer Service

  • Ensure a consistently high standard of customer service is delivered at all times.
  • Ensure a consistently high standard of personal presentation is maintained.
  • Be aware and focus to improve on results.
  • Ensure a high level of product knowledge of the hotel and local area.
  • Be focused on hospitality and customer service.
  • Ensure all standards are adhered to and maintained.

Team Management

  • Be pro-active in developing your individual skills.
  • Be self-motivated and perform to the highest level.
  • Ensure you regularly attend communication meetings held within the department.
  • Ensure planned training is completed.
  • Ensure communication between Engineering and all other areas of the hotel is professional, efficient and thorough.

Cost Control

  • Adhere to departmental operating expenses as laid out by your manager.

General

  • Be respectful of our guest’s privacy ensuring their every request in this regard is strictly adhered to and their details remain confidential.
  • Comply with all company policies.
  • Comply with all systems and procedures.
  • Ensure your grooming is in line with hotel policy.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer/ Hotel Manager.

THE PERSON – QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Passionate, innovative, exciting initiatives delivered with consistency and excellent attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to be involved and interact with the overall Hilton team both at an individual and team level.
  • Building trade qualified advantageous however not essential.
  • Fluent in the English language in order to communicate professionally with guests and team members.
  • Committed to personal development.
  • High attention to detail, flexible and efficient.
  • The ability to work at a fast pace both autonomously and as part of a team.
